And I'm Back... At School

Yup, school started. This will not effect my reading much but, it will effect how often I can post. I hope to do two or three posts a week but it will all depend on what I'm doing. Hope everyone has a great year... starting... NOW!!!

Sweetly! (The actual book review)

As a child, Gretchen's twin sister was taken by a witch in the woods. Ever since, Gretchen and her brother, Ansel, have felt the long branches of the witch's forest threatening to make them disappear, too.
Years later, when their stepmother casts Gretchen and Ansel out, they find themselves in sleepy Live Oak, South Carolina. They're invited to stay with Sophia Kelly, a beautiful candy maker who molds sugary magic: coveted treats that create confidence, bravery, and passion.
Life seems idyllic and Gretchen and Ansel gradually forget their haunted past -- until Gretchen meets handsome local outcast Samuel. He tells her the witch isn't gone -- it's lurking in the forest, preying on girls every year after Live Oak's infamous chocolate festival, and looking to make Gretchen its next victim. Gretchen is determined to stop running and start fighting back. Yet the further she investigates the mystery of what the witch is and how it chooses its victims, the more she wonders who the real monster is.
Gretchen is certain of only one thing: a monster is coming, and it will never go away hungry.

Sweetly. By Jackson Pearce. Great book. Perfect companion.
Last week I read Sweetly and made and informal review. It was not very good. This post is to make up for it.
Sweetly was brilliantly written. I love how it related to Sister's Red and set up the connection between Fathomless and the first two. I loved the contrast between Sister's Red and Sweetly too. How even though they are related they are different enough to tell their own part of the story.
Something that I noticed is that sibling connections play a huge role throughout the series. But it's not just sibling connections, it also includes family connections and relationships that are so close that it feels like sibling or family connection. I love how well Jackson Pearce portrays the relationships between her characters.
To sum up this book, I once again must say: Great book, Perfect companion.
Sweetly is officially out today. I hope you plan to read it.
Happy Birthday Sweetly!

P.S. Sorry, I forgot about the tree post. It will go up soon. Probably tomorrow-ish.

Die For Me

Would you risk your life for love?

My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.
Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.
Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.
Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Because Vincent is no normal human. He has a terrifying destiny, one that puts his life at risk every day. He also has enemies . . . immortal, murderous enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.
While I'm fighting to piece together the remnants of my life, can I risk putting my heart—as well as my life and my family's—in jeopardy for a chance at love?

Great book! Great job Amy Plum!!!! I can't wait for the next one!
This book is a truly unique, interesting, and new story. I haven't read anything quite like it before. It has love and loss and made me cry. I have loved every book that has made me cry. But this book also made me extremely happy. All my favorite books can make me happy and sad and worried.
This is a favorite.
I hope that I can find books of equal awesomeness while I wait for more.
Yet again, THANK YOU FOR WRITING A BRILLIANT BOOK! TRULY FANTASTIC!
On a side note, I found out a while ago that Delirium is going to be a trilogy. I can't wait!
See ya soon!

P.S. Next post will be about trees...

RAIN!!!

Today's post was somewhat inspired by this tweet.
Maggie Stiefvater-
"We have gotten approximately fourteen feet of rain in the last three days. What a strange August."

And so, I give you pictures of the rain. They are from last night and today. So, without further ado, I give you... RAIN!!!!

The cloudy sky.

Can you see the umbrella?

How about the glare of the lamp?

The TREE???

Oh. Look. A tree.
Hi Tree.

And a picture through a rain covered window

Looking at...

  A stoplight.

And trees.

And, the ultimate picture.
It has:

  • AND a mirror!!!

This picture has it all.
And it also has... wait for it...
